Michael Ferguson, DDS, MD
Clinical Assistant Professor
Originally from Lafayette, Dr. Ferguson is a Louisiana native who is proud to serve his community in the greater New Orleans area. He actively served in the U.S. Army and Louisiana Army National Guard for many years. He enlisted as a combat medic to aid his fellow soldiers and later became a Commissioned Officer. From treating soldiers to treating patients here at home, he strives to put patients at ease and make them feel as comfortable as possible, always placing the priorities and needs of the patient before anything else. He wants to get to know every one of his patients by providing respect, honesty, and good conversation.
Dr. Ferguson attended Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge and graduated in 1995. Later he attended LSU School of Dentistry in New Orleans, graduating in 2000 and obtained his DDS. Next, he received his MD from LSU School of Medicine in 2003 and completed his residency at Charity Hospital in New Orleans in 2006. He went on to become board-certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
Dr. Ferguson is involved with the Children’s Hospital Cleft and Craniofacial Team, treating children with facial abnormalities. He is also a member of the Delta Dental Study Club, which focuses on humanitarian efforts in the New Orleans area.
