Conferences

Residents have the opportunity to participate in many academic conferences including but not limited to:

  • Friday Morning Weekly Trauma Service Conference
  • Monday Morning Weekly Cancer Service Conference
  • Bi-Monthly Research Meetings
  • Quarterly Joint Dentofacial Deformities conference with the Orthodontics department
  • Annual JKOMSF Review Course: Emphasizes critical areas of surgery with scientific support and prepares surgeons and residents for specialty board examination.
  • Annual JKOMSF Pearls Course
  • Quarterly orthognathic training conference while on Charlotte rotation
  • Residents are also given the opportunity to participate in the ACOMS Hands-On Facial Cosmetic Surgery Course that is hosted by Dr. Jon Perenack, DDS, MD.
  • Cadaver training lab (Including Microvascular, Orthognathic approaches, Craniofacial approaches, and TMJ approaches)
  • AAOMS: Each year all chiefs attend the AAOMS conference along with anyone who is approved to present research projects. 
  • Monthly academic day:
    • This entire day consists of three hours of lectures in the morning which are specific to Oral Board topics, hands on components, and case presentations. 
    • Joint implant conference with the Prosthodontics’ department.
    • CPC conference with lectures and case presentations from the LSUSD Pathology department
