Conferences
Residents have the opportunity to participate in many academic conferences including but not limited to:
- Friday Morning Weekly Trauma Service Conference
- Monday Morning Weekly Cancer Service Conference
- Bi-Monthly Research Meetings
- Quarterly Joint Dentofacial Deformities conference with the Orthodontics department
- Annual JKOMSF Review Course: Emphasizes critical areas of surgery with scientific support and prepares surgeons and residents for specialty board examination.
- Annual JKOMSF Pearls Course
- Quarterly orthognathic training conference while on Charlotte rotation
- Residents are also given the opportunity to participate in the ACOMS Hands-On Facial Cosmetic Surgery Course that is hosted by Dr. Jon Perenack, DDS, MD.
- Cadaver training lab (Including Microvascular, Orthognathic approaches, Craniofacial approaches, and TMJ approaches)
- AAOMS: Each year all chiefs attend the AAOMS conference along with anyone who is approved to present research projects.
- Monthly academic day:
- This entire day consists of three hours of lectures in the morning which are specific to Oral Board topics, hands on components, and case presentations.
- Joint implant conference with the Prosthodontics’ department.
- CPC conference with lectures and case presentations from the LSUSD Pathology department
