The LSUSD Department of Endodontics actively supports the mission of the school -- teaching, research and service. Teaching is accomplished at all levels -- undergraduate, postgraduate, continuing education, and peer faculty.

Endodontics is the branch of dentistry concerning dental pulp and tissues surrounding the roots of a tooth. Endodontic treatment, or root canal treatment, treats the soft pulp tissue inside the tooth.

Undergraduate courses are presented to dental students. The department offers advanced endodontic instruction and clinical experience to dental student. The endodontics clinic utilizes operating microscopes in most of their treatments.

The Advanced Education program in Endodontics graduates are awarded a certificate in endodontics and an MsD, and are educationally qualified for board certification by the American Board of Endodontics. The department of Endodontics offers state-of-the art facilities and a faculty that includes not only talented endodontists, but clinicians from all dental specialties
