Prosthodontics
Description
of Care
A prosthodontist is a
dental specialist who is
skilled in the replacement
of missing teeth and the
restoration of natural
teeth. Prosthodontists are
trained to treat
complicated mouth
problems, optimal esthetic
demands, and facial
deformities. Common
procedures performed by
prosthodontists include
complete dentures, partial
dentures, fixed bridges,
crowns, implants, veneers,
and more.
Become a Patient
Patients are screened by
referral from a dentist
and are selected for
treatment according to the
needs of the program. Not
all patients will be
accepted for treatment.
Patients who are accepted
into the LSUHSC
Prosthodontics Clinic will
be treated by one of our
residents. Residents in
our program have completed
four years of dental
training and have been
awarded their dental
degree. They have opted to
return for three
additional years of
training to increase their
skills in diagnosing and
treating whole-mouth
restorations under faculty
supervision.
Dentists may fax
referrals to 504-941-8284.
