Since 1968, the LSU School
of Dentistry (LSUSD) has
been the only dental
school in the state. The
oral health of the people
of Louisiana depends on
our continuing to educate
the highest quality dental
practitioner.
Today, 70% of the dental
health care providers in
the state are graduates of
LSUSD. Our graduation rate
is 98.9%.
A look
at the numbers
Few people
realize that the cost to
educate a dental student
is much higher than what
tuition covers. A
comparison of tuition
costs at every dental
school in the United
States shows that LSUSD
offers the lowest tuition
for dental students
nationwide.
We make every effort to
generate additional
sources of revenue through
clinic income, hospital
contracts, and private and
public grants.
Collectively, however,
these revenue sources
cover only the most basic
operational expenses.
