Rosalynn
Crawford-McKendall, DDS,
has been appointed
assistant professor in the
Department of Pediatric
Dentistry at the LSU
School of Dentistry.
Dr. Crawford-McKendall, a
native of Boligee,
Alabama, graduated magna
cum laude in 1994 from
Jackson State University
in Jackson, Mississippi
with a bachelor of science
in biology. In 1998 she
received her DDS from New
York University (NYU)
College of Dentistry. She
received a general
practice residency
certificate two years
later from Bronx Lebanon
Hospital and completed
certification in pediatric
dentistry from NYU in
2005.
Prior to coming to LSUSD,
she was a clinical
assistant professor in the
Pediatric Dentistry
Department of NYU College
of Dentistry. She has
practiced dentistry for
ten years, including
private practice in New
Jersey and public health
dentistry in Maryland.
The announcement of Dr.
Crawford-McKendall's
appointment was made by
Dr. Janice Townsend,
interim chair of the
department. "She has a
unique combination of
experiences that includes
private practice, public
health, and academic
training," said Townsend.
"She's even taught
predoctoral students in a
mobile dental van, which
is challenging. I have
enjoyed learning her
perspective on motivating
the dental students while
watching her cover the
clinic."
