Alumni
Awards: Call for
Nominations
The LSUSD Alumni
Association is accepting
nominations for two
awards, Alumnus of the
Year and Distinguished
Alumnus. The Alumnus of
the Year Award,
established in 1998, is
the highest honor bestowed
by the school. The
hallmark of each recipient
is a distinctive career of
lifetime achievement as
well as a commitment to
strengthen LSUSD through
volunteerism and financial
support.
The Distinguished Alumnus
Award, established in
2014, recognizes a
graduate who has shown
extraordinary lifetime
professional achievement
in the areas of dental
education, research, or
community service. It
honors those who have made
significant contributions
to the profession of
dentistry.
The deadline for
nominations is August 15,
2014. Recipients will be
honored at Alumni Day on
Friday, September 19,
2014.

Outreach
to Homeless Youth
This spring, members of
the Student American
Dental Hygienists'
Association (SADHA)
coordinated a toiletry
drive to make 100 "Just
Add Water" bags for the
residents of Covenant
House. Covenant House is a
non-profit organization in
New Orleans that provides
a safe haven for homeless,
runaway, and at-risk youth
ages 16-22. Senior dental
hygiene students, Megan
LeBlanc, SADHA president,
and Rikki Heitmeier, SADHA
treasurer, are pictured at
right delivering the "Just
Add Water" bags. This is
one of many outreach
projects that SADHA has
organized over the years.
