The Foundation for the
Louisiana State University
Health Sciences Center
(LSUHSC Foundation) was
formed in 1988 to support
and promote the
charitable, scientific and
educational mission of the
LSUHSC. Comprised of six
schools, the LSU Health
Sciences Center’s primary
mission is to educate
health professionals and
scientists at all levels.
Its schools include
medicine, dentistry,
nursing, allied health
professions, graduate
studies, and public
health. The LSUHSC
Foundation is a private,
institutionally-related
foundation formed to
solicit donations and
manage funds to benefit
LSUHSC. The Foundation is
a private 501(C) 3
non-profit corporation and
defined by the IRS as a
"public charity."
Why
are gifts deposited with
the Foundation vs. the
School of Dentistry?
The Foundation serves as a
type of bank for
contributions to the LSU
Health Sciences Center and
its six schools. Under its
umbrella, 1,015 different
funds are managed and
invested under the
direction of its board of
directors. The LSU School
of Dentistry has 111
individual accounts to
benefit specific
departments, programs and
other strategic
initiatives of the school.
Your gift to the LSUHSC
Foundation is directed to
the exact school, program
or department that you
designate at the time of
your gift.
