Matching
Gifts
Corporate
If you
work for a company with
a matching gifts
program, it is possible
to dramatically increase
the impact of your gift.
In some cases, a
spouse’s company will
also match a gift. The
ratio of the match
varies from company to
company, ranging from
1:1 to 3:1.
Both your gift and the
matching gift will count
toward your overall giving
level for donor
recognition.
Forms are usually
available from human
resources or the personnel
department of your
company. Complete your
portion of the form and
send it to the LSU School
of Dentistry Office of
Alumni Relations, either
with your gift or after
the gift has been sent. We
will complete our portion
of the form—verifying the
receipt of your gift—and
send it back to the
company, which will then
send the school a check.
State of
Louisiana
Through the
oversight of the Louisiana
Board of Regents, the
state offers a 40 percent
match when a donor chooses
to fund an endowed chair
or professorship.
Endowed professorships
and chairs position the
school to compete with
other universities to
attract the finest
faculty. The annual
interest from the
endowment supports the
research, teaching, and
public service of a named
professor, giving
professors an added
incentive to join or
remain as faculty with the
LSU School of Dentistry.
The challenge in the next
20 years relates to the
number of dentists
entering the workforce.
Based on statistics
provided by the American
Dental Education
Association, more dentists
will be retiring versus
entering the workforce
from 2014 to 2031. How
does that translate for
dental education? Dental
schools will continue to
struggle to recruit
qualified faculty.
